With summer just around the corner, electric bills are sure to go through the roof. That’s especially true for those who have outdated air conditioning units, which are notorious for using large amounts of electricity.

But those costs can be cut in half by installing a new, energy-efficient system, according to Dan Pikschus, owner of the Upland-based Klaus and Sons heating and cooling specialists. He says his store carries a wide variety of Lennox systems that can easily cut electric consumption in half.

“You have to be approved by Edison or the state to sell these type of systems,” said Pikschus. “And we are one of the few who are because it’s not an easy process.”

Pikschus says many of the Lennox system have advanced features, such as two-stage compressors and variable speed fan operation. They also carry high Season Energy Efficiency Ratings (SEER), which means they are more efficient than those with lower ratings.

Along with air-conditioning units, Klaus and Sons carries a complete line of state-of-the-art indoor comfort equipment that includes heat pumps, gas furnaces, air cleaners, boilers and more.
