Years Won: 2017 (Favorite) 2016 (Best)
For the 7th consecutive year, San Antonio Regional Hospital is honored to have received Reader’s Choice Awards for BEST HOSPITAL by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin readers and FAVORITE HOSPITAL by the San Bernardino Sun readers. Choosing a hospital provider is an extremely important decision, and we don’t underestimate the trust our patients place in our hands when they choose us for care–whether at our main hospital campus in Upland, or at one of our satellite facilities throughout the Inland Empire.
Since last year’s Reader’s Choice Awards, the hospital has completed a $160 million expansion on its main campus in Upland. The expansion was the largest in San Antonio’s 110-year history and includes a new 52-bed Emergency Department and 92-bed Vineyard tower. Our first patients were treated in the new space in January 2017. The new ED and patient tower bring residents throughout the Inland Valley the very best hospital experience, with modern amenities, state-of-the-art equipment, and streamlined processes for managing patient care.
The hospital’s new Vineyard Tower not only provides the latest medical technology and advanced care delivery systems; it offers patients and their families the comfort and convenience of larger, private accommodations. The new Vineyard Tower includes a grand two-story lobby with comfortable seating, an expanded gift shop, a coffee bistro, and an art gallery featuring works from local artists. The new tower also houses an additional 12-bed intensive care unit and 32 telemetry beds for patients needing constant heart monitoring. The fourth floor features 48 medical/surgical beds, including a dedicated orthopedic unit with a physical therapy gym.
San Antonio Regional Hospital’s new Emergency Department, which has nearly tripled in size, comes at a time when emergency rooms throughout the region are facing challenges keeping up with the demand for medical services as the population in San Bernardino and Riverside counties continue to outpace state averages. The additional emergency department capacity will help ease this burden.
In early 2017, San Antonio Regional Hospital and City of Hope announced an affiliation agreement that will significantly expand access to leading-edge, high-quality cancer care, research, and services in the Inland Empire. The partnership combines City of Hope’s world-class cancer care and research expertise with San Antonio Regional Hospital’s 110-year tradition of providing high-quality patient care to improve access to the latest in cancer diagnosis and treatment for residents of the Inland Empire. The collaboration is focused on creating a seamless system of care where patients can access a full spectrum of medical and surgical cancer services conveniently in their own community.
The hospital has also announced the Joint Replacement Center at San Antonio Regional Hospital’s Orthopedic Institute. The Center builds upon San Antonio’s already strong reputation for excellent orthopedic services. Several top orthopedic surgeons in the region have worked closely with the hospital’s orthopedic team to create a Joint Replacement Center designed to streamline and enhance the patient experience for those undergoing shoulder, hip, or knee replacements using best surgical practices and a concierge approach to care before, during, and after the surgical procedure. Joint Replacement Center patients have private rooms in a dedicated unit on the fourth floor of the new Vineyard Tower. An orthopedic nurse navigator, specially trained orthopedic nurses and mobility aides, physical therapy staff, and an onsite therapy gym are also available to joint replacement patients.
With an exciting year ahead in bringing new medical services to the communities we serve, San Antonio Regional Hospital’s team members thank you again for this recognition and for your trust.
